Rain forecast for Telangana as low-pressure systems intensify

Hyderabad: Telangana is looking at a four-day stretch of rain starting this weekend, as weather systems stir over both the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, according to the IMD.

Right now, a low-pressure area in the Arabian Sea is picking up steam and might soon turn into a cyclonic circulation. At the same time, another system is expected to develop over the western Bay of Bengal by May 27. Together, they’re likely to bring widespread rain to the state, with thunderstorms and lightning in the mix.

Because of this, the IMD has put out a yellow alert for several districtsNirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Sangareddy, and Mulugu – advising folks in these areas to stay alert and take precautions as needed.

And it’s not just Telangana. Parts of Andhra Pradesh, especially Krishna, Guntur, and Palnadu districts, are also expected to get hit with heavy rain and possible lightning over the next couple of days.

As of Friday, Narnoor in Adilabad district saw the heaviest downpour in the state, recording 12.51 cm of rain, according to officials.

Authorities are watching the systems closely. If they intensify, there’s a chance they could grow into a deep depression or even a cyclone. For now, it’s a wait-and-watch situation, and more updates will come as things unfold.
