Hyderabad: Telangana Police on Monday issued a public advisory urging responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI). They warned that legal action would be taken against those misusing the technology for harmful purposes.
Through a video message posted on its official X handle (@TelanganaCOPs), the department highlighted the increasing global use of AI. They noted that while some use it for good, others are exploiting it for deception and cybercrime.

The advisory specifically warned citizens against using AI to generate or spread false information, create fake media, or target individuals through malicious content. It emphasised that such misuse constitutes a legal offence.
“Artificial intelligence should be used only to enhance knowledge and spread awareness,” the police said. “Do not use it to defame or harm others. Misuse can lead to criminal consequences.”
The department called on the public to stay alert and exercise caution when using AI tools, especially in the context of rapidly evolving online threats.
