Hyderabad: The Telangana Police Women Safety Wing will launch the Stand With Her campaign later today to encourage men to actively prevent violence against women.
The programme will take place at the JNTU Auditorium in KPHB, Hyderabad at 11 a.m. The campaign urges men to support women’s safety and challenge behaviour that leads to harassment.
Officials say the initiative treats violence against women as a continuum. Everyday actions such as staring, sexist jokes, stalking, online harassment, groping and domestic abuse create an environment that enables more serious violence.
The campaign therefore aims to shift the narrative. Instead of asking women to protect themselves, the initiative calls on society to share responsibility for women’s safety.
Stand With Her campaign urges men to act
The programme encourages men to move from silence to action. It asks them to intervene when they witness harassment and promote accountability among peers.
Organisers stress the campaign message “Speak Up. Stand Up.” They argue that silence enables violence while intervention shows strength.
The launch event will feature Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy as chief guest. IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Panchayat Raj and Women & Child Welfare Minister Danasari Anasuya will attend as guests of honour.
Telangana Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy and Women Safety Wing Additional Director General of Police Charu Sinha will also participate in the event.
Other invitees include Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar, Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh and several senior officials from government departments and partner organisations.
