Hyderabad: The Telangana government has announced that July 4 will be officially observed every year as Rosaiah Jayanti, marking the birth anniversary of former united Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Konijeti Rosaiah.
Government orders to this effect were issued, assigning the responsibility for organising the annual observance to the Department of Tourism and Culture. All district collectors have been instructed to conduct events at the district level.
Rosaiah, who served as finance minister multiple times in the former Andhra Pradesh government, is noted for presenting the state budget 16 times. Officials said this rare distinction was a key reason for giving official status to the birth anniversary.
Born on July 4, 1933, Rosaiah passed away on December 4, 2021.
