Hyderabad: The Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) has officially begun preparations for the upcoming municipal elections. It decided to use the Telangana municipal polls voter list from 2019 as the electoral base.
Final voter list on January 16, polling station details due by Jan 13
In a high-level meeting held on Wednesday, the SEC outlined its strategy for conducting elections in the state’s municipal corporations and municipalities. Senior officials from the municipal department and other departments were present. A video conference was also held with all district collectors.
The SEC confirmed that the final voter list will be published on January 16. Meanwhile, the preliminary polling station details must be released by January 13. All polling station data is to be uploaded to the T-Poll application.
Booth-level verification and strict adherence to model code
Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been tasked with verifying voter details at polling stations. The commission has also enabled online voter registration and data updates. Additionally, it has instructed the formation of Flying Squad Teams (FSTs) and Static Surveillance Teams (SSTs) to ensure free and fair polls.
The commission stated that claims and objections regarding voter data will be accepted until January 12. Verification is set to start on January 13. The final list will follow on January 16. The SEC stressed strict compliance with the model code of conduct during the election period.
