Hyderabad: K. Kavitha said the Telangana Jagruti women bill campaign played a central role in building national momentum for the Women’s Reservation Bill.
She made the remarks on Thursday while addressing the media. She said sustained efforts by Telangana Jagruti had brought the issue to the forefront of national politics.
Kavitha described the introduction of the bill as a milestone. However, she criticised the Centre’s implementation framework, calling it “deceptive” and comparing it to a “post-dated cheque” that delays benefits to women.
She said coordinated protests organised by Telangana Jagruti in Delhi helped build political pressure. According to her, these efforts brought together 18 political parties and pushed the issue onto the national agenda.

Referring to the Telangana women bill campaign, she said the organisation ensured that Members of Parliament across parties raised the issue in Parliament. As a result, she said, the Centre could not ignore the demand.
Kavitha added that the movement created sustained visibility for the issue. She said the contribution of Telangana Jagruti in advancing the Women’s Bill should be recognised in the broader political discourse.
