Telangana Indiramma houses to get additional aid through PMAY-Gramin

Hyderabad: Telangana Indiramma houses will be linked with the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) portal to secure additional financial assistance for eligible poor families. The state Housing Department has started registering beneficiaries under the central programme. Through this initiative, more families can access housing support.

The Centre recently sanctioned two lakh houses for Telangana under PMAY-G. To utilise the allocation effectively, the Housing Department prepared a plan to upload beneficiary details in two phases.

During the first phase, officials are uploading records for 1.75 lakh houses that have already been completed. They are entering the details on the official PMAY portal. Meanwhile, authorities will identify another 25,000 poor people living in mud huts and temporary shelters. Officials will then add these families to the beneficiary list.

The department has set October 20 as the deadline for the exercise. To meet this target, officials are speeding up data entry and geo-tagging. They are also checking the records to minimise errors.

To support the process, housing technical officials trained Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDOs). The MPDOs then trained village-level panchayat secretaries. These sessions covered the designated application and the entry of beneficiary details. As a result, field staff can complete registration and geo-tagging more accurately.

After officials complete the online registration, the Centre will release the funds. Under PMAY-G, the central government will provide Rs. 72,000 directly for each house.

In addition, beneficiaries can receive support for toilet construction under the Swachh Bharat Mission. They can also access further assistance through the employment guarantee scheme identified in the state’s plan as VB-G RAM G.

Through this integration, Telangana Indiramma houses will become eligible for support under the central housing programme, subject to the scheme’s requirements. The Housing Department is working towards its October 20 deadline for completing registration and geo-tagging.
