HYDERABAD: In a significant legal development, the Telangana High Court has dismissed the phone tapping case against former minister and Siddipet MLA, Harish Rao. The case, which had garnered considerable attention in state political circles, was quashed by the court, providing relief to the senior leader.
The case originated from a complaint filed by real estate businessman Chakradhar Goud, who alleged that his phone was illegally tapped. Based on this complaint, the Panjagutta Police Station registered an FIR against Harish Rao and former Task Force DCP, Radhakishan Rao.
Challenging the FIR, Harish Rao filed a quash petition in the High Court. During the proceedings, the court had previously issued interim orders preventing his arrest. After hearing arguments from both sides, the High Court concluded that the FIR lacked merit and subsequently quashed the case.
This verdict has been welcomed by supporters of Harish Rao, who viewed the allegations as politically motivated.
