Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a Telangana heatwave alert, placing the state under an orange alert and warning of severe heat conditions until April 16.
The IMD forecast maximum temperatures between 41°C and 44°C in Hyderabad on April 16. It extended the orange alert to several districts from April 12 to April 16.
Meanwhile, forecasts from the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) and IMD indicated a further rise in temperatures. Over the next three days, maximum temperatures are expected to increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above normal.

Recent readings reflected the upward trend. Chinna Thandrapadu in Jogulamba Gadwal district recorded the highest temperature at 41.8°C.
In nearby regions, the Maheswaram industrial area in Rangareddy registered 41.2°C, while the Medchal industrial zone recorded 40.1°C. Within Hyderabad, Nehru Nagar Ward Office reported a maximum of 39.5°C.
Other areas also recorded high temperatures. Gubbagurthy in Khammam and Ghanpur in Nalgonda registered 41.7°C each, while Talamadugu in Adilabad recorded 41.6°C.
Officials said the prevailing conditions indicate continued heatwave conditions across Telangana in the coming days.
