Hyderabad: Telangana government released ₹344.35 crore towards interest subsidy for women’s self-help groups, Minister Seethakka announced on Sunday.
Of the total, ₹300 crore was allocated to rural SHGs and ₹44 crore to urban groups. The funds will be deposited directly into the accounts of the SHGs by July 18. The subsidy covers interest on loans taken through banks, fully borne by the State.
As part of this initiative, ministers and MLAs will distribute interest subsidy cheques, along with accident and loan insurance benefits, across all constituencies.
Seethakka said the disbursal forms a key segment of the Indira Mahila Shakti celebrations and aims to strengthen financial security for women. She added that under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership, the scheme was being implemented more rigorously.
Since the formation of the Congress government, ₹518.69 crore has been paid in interest subsidies to women SHGs, with the latest release pushing the total above ₹860 crore.
She stated that annual loans of at least ₹25,000 crore were being extended to SHGs, and clarified that no interest burden would fall on the beneficiaries, as the government would continue to absorb the cost.
