Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday announced that the Telangana government was preparing to fill another 40,000 government jobs. This would bring the total number of recruitments to one lakh within two and a half years of the Congress-led administration.
60,000 posts already filled in first year
Speaking at a public meeting in Husnabad during the ‘Prajapalana – Praja Vijayotsavalu’ programme, Reddy said the new hiring drive was part of the government’s promise to address youth employment. He stated that in the first year itself, the administration had already filled 60,000 posts.
He recalled the sacrifice of Srikantha Chari, who died by self-immolation on December 3 during the Telangana movement. The Chief Minister said his government was working to realise the dreams of employment that motivated the fight for statehood.
Focus on regional development
Revanth Reddy also laid foundation stones for several development projects in Husnabad. He assured the public that the government would complete the neglected Gouravelli Reservoir project.
The Chief Minister noted that Husnabad holds historical significance. He reminded the audience that Sardar Papanna Goud had launched a battle against feudal forces from this region, laying the foundation for Bahujan political empowerment.

Praise for Karimnagar’s role in statehood movement
Reddy lauded Karimnagar district for its support during the second phase of the Telangana movement. He added that the Congress government had rolled out a series of welfare schemes over the past two years.
These schemes include free bus travel for women, 200 units of free electricity, solar energy for women’s groups, ration card distribution, and supply of fine rice. The government also initiated the construction of 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses. He said ₹1.04 lakh crore was spent on agriculture. This included farm loan waivers and the Rythu Bharosa scheme.
Revanth Reddy stated that the government had drafted a roadmap for the state’s future development. He said the plan was shaped by public aspirations.
Ministers and local representatives attend
The meeting was attended by Ministers D. Sridhar Babu, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Ponnam Prabhakar, B. Vinod Kumar, and Adluri Laxman Kumar. Public representatives from the undivided Karimnagar district were also present.
