Hyderabad: As Telangana gets ready to celebrate its Formation Day on June 2, the state government has announced a major gesture of gratitude towards its police force, with 625 officers lined up to receive medals for their dedication and service across various units.
A government order signed by Special Chief Secretary (Home) Ravi Gupta confirmed the recipients, highlighting the wide range of roles they’ve played within the police department. Officers from the elite anti-Maoist Greyhounds, the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Vigilance and Enforcement, Special Protection Force, and Disaster Response and Fire Services are among those being recognised.
According to the list, nine Greyhounds personnel will receive gallantry awards for their acts of bravery. Another 16 will be honoured for distinguished service, and 92 more for meritorious service. Forty-seven officers will be recognised for their commitment under challenging circumstances, while 461 will receive service medals for their overall contributions.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau’s roster includes one medal for distinguished service, four for meritorious service, and 17 for general service. In the Vigilance and Enforcement Department, one officer is set to be recognised for meritorious service and five for general service. The Special Protection Force will see one medal awarded for distinguished service, three for meritorious service, and 15 for general service.
In the Disaster Response and Fire Services Department, two officers will receive gallantry awards, while one will be honoured for distinguished service, three for meritorious service, and 14 for their general duties.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is expected to present the medals during the Telangana Formation Day celebrations.
