Hyderabad: The Telangana State Election Commission announced the schedule to release ward-wise voter lists for the upcoming municipal polls and briefed political parties on the process.
The commission held a meeting with representatives of recognised and registered political parties. During the interaction, officials reviewed preparations for municipal elections and explained the voter roll exercise.
Accordingly, the exercise covered six municipal corporations with 366 wards. It also included 117 municipalities with 2,630 wards across 32 districts in the state.
Ward-wise voter lists to be released in phases
First, the commission will publish the ward-wise draft voter lists on January 12 under Section 195-A of the amended Telangana Municipalities Act, 2019. Next, it will release polling station details on January 13 and upload them online.
Subsequently, on January 16, the commission will display the final voter lists with photographs. It will also show polling station details ward-wise at the respective locations.
Meanwhile, municipal and municipal corporation commissioners will oversee the publication process. Finally, officials shared the full schedule with party representatives to ensure transparency in the electoral process.
