Hyderabad: Telangana has become the first state this season to distribute over 94% of its three-month quota of rice under the Public Distribution System (PDS) in just one month. Civil Supplies officials said 94.58% of the allocated PDS rice for June to August 2025 was delivered to beneficiaries in June alone—an unmatched figure nationally so far this cycle.
Principal Secretary and Civil Supplies Commissioner D.S. Chauhan, IPS, credited the feat to coordinated execution across multiple departments. In a formal note of appreciation, he highlighted the efforts of four key officials.
Smt. Lakshmi Bhavani, Deputy Commissioner (NFSA), and Smt. Alivelu Mangamma, General Manager (PDS), was commended for ensuring pre-monsoon movement of food grains across districts, avoiding logistical delays. Officials said their coordination enabled uninterrupted supplies even in remote mandals.
Smt. Saritha Vani, GM (Finance), was recognised for enabling timely payments to farmers and stakeholders through tight financial planning and execution.
Shri S. Rajeshwar, Legal Metrology official, received separate praise for unearthing a fuel adulteration racket and strengthening consumer protection campaigns during the same period.
Civil Supplies Department officials said the state’s performance in PDS delivery this month has set a benchmark, adding that operational systems under Chauhan’s oversight ensured speed without compromising compliance.
