Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC Dr Sravan Dasoju on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the Congress-led Telangana government, calling its so-called “model” caste survey a deceptive political stunt built on secrecy and manipulation.
In an open letter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Sravan accused the government of constitutional violations and withholding key reports used to justify the 42 percent BC reservation policy. He questioned why documents like the SEEEPC caste survey, the Busani Venkateshwar Rao Commission report, and the expert review by Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy had not been placed before the Assembly, BC Commission, or public.
Sravan alleged the state had violated Articles 14, 19(1)(a), and 21 of the Constitution by bypassing legislative scrutiny and pushing an ordinance on June 28, the day the Assembly was prorogued. He described the move as a “manipulative bypass” to dodge a High Court deadline on local body polls.
He demanded disclosure on the status of the BC reservation Bills passed on March 25 and later sent to the President. Credible sources, he said, suggest the Bills were returned, but the government has issued no official clarification.
Citing media reports of 1.03 lakh locked houses, 1.68 lakh refusals, and 84,000 data inconsistencies, Sravan questioned the Chief Minister’s claim that the caste survey is a national model. He accused the government of suppressing realities for political convenience.
He called Rahul Gandhi’s slogan “Jitni Abaadi, Utni Hissa” a hollow gesture if not backed by legal and transparent action, and issued a seven-point demand including a special session to table all reports and the ordinance, a white paper on the survey, and a push for Ninth Schedule protection for BC reservations.
“This is not your personal PR campaign,” Sravan said, calling on Revanth Reddy to either ensure full transparency or step down. Former MLA Kurra Sathyanarayana was also present at the press conference.
