Hyderabad: Telangana’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) registered 15 corruption cases in October, booking 18 government employees, one outsourcing staffer, and two private individuals. The agency made arrests in all the cases and seized cash linked to bribe demands, according to a statement issued on Saturday.
From January to October, the ACB filed 218 cases in total. Investigators identified disproportionate assets worth ₹58.36 crore in 13 cases during this period.
Cash seized at state checkposts during surprise inspections
ACB officials also carried out surprise checks at 12 checkposts across the state between midnight and early morning on October 18. They seized ₹4.18 lakh in unaccounted cash during these inspections.
The bureau submitted a report to the government highlighting that some RTA checkpost staff were collecting bribes from vehicle drivers. It accused officials of deliberate negligence in duty performance.
Key arrests across districts in October
In Nalgonda district, Chityal Tahsildar Guguloth Krishna was caught on October 9 accepting ₹2 lakh as a bribe. He had allegedly demanded ₹10 lakh to facilitate mutation of agricultural land. The ACB booked him along with another individual involved in the transaction.
On October 17, ACB caught forest section officers in Vikarabad district accepting ₹40,000 in bribes. They had demanded money from fruit traders transporting custard apples through forest areas. The bureau also filed a case against a driver from the outsourcing wing who assisted them.
In Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Deputy Registrar Rathod Bikku from the District Cooperative Office was arrested on October 25. He accepted ₹2 lakh as part of a ₹5 lakh bribe deal. The demand was made to reinstate a suspended employee and release his pending allowance.
Another case surfaced on October 29 in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. Executive Engineer Venkata Ramarao from the Endowments Department was caught red-handed taking ₹1.90 lakh. He allegedly sought the bribe to process a bill worth ₹11.50 lakh at the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple.
