Telangana sanctions ₹55 lakh for North East connect cultural festival in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has approved ₹55 lakh for the “Telangana–North East India Connect: Techno-Cultural Festival,” a film and cultural event scheduled this November in Hyderabad. The festival will aim to deepen cinematic and cultural partnerships between Telangana and the North Eastern states.

Event to showcase cinema and cultural diversity

Minister for Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Komatireddy Venkat Reddy is spearheading the initiative. He stated that the festival will feature award-winning films, panel discussions, and creative showcases. These elements, he said, will celebrate India’s diversity and foster regional collaboration.

“This festival will celebrate India’s cultural diversity and highlight Telangana’s role as a bridge of creativity and inclusion,” the Minister noted. He also said the event aligns with the state’s larger vision to brand Hyderabad as a national hub for arts, cinema, and cultural exchange.

Government routes funding through film development body

The government issued G.O.Rt.No.1551, authorising the Telangana Film Development Corporation to allocate ₹55 lakh for the event. Preparations are underway, with plans to involve filmmakers, students, and cultural representatives from various regions.

Officials believe the festival will boost regional partnerships and create a platform for shared cultural narratives. Moreover, they expect it to generate new opportunities in creative collaboration between Telangana and the North East.
