Hyderabad: Expelled Congress MLC Teenmar Mallanna on Friday announced the formation of a new political party aimed at uniting Backward Classes (BCs), Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and minorities in Telangana, with plans to contest the upcoming local body elections and target the 2028 Assembly polls.
Addressing a gathering of BC leaders in Zaheerabad, Sangareddy district, Mallanna declared the new party’s goal was to bring a BC leader to the Chief Minister’s post by 2028. He confirmed the party would contest local polls independently and build momentum for a broader power shift.
He accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the Congress government of using the recently announced 42% BC reservation in local elections as an electoral ploy. Mallanna dismissed the announcement as opportunistic, intended solely to sway BC voters ahead of polls.
Mallanna targeted the Congress, BRS, and BJP, charging all three with systematically excluding BCs from meaningful power. He said the new party would challenge this marginalisation and push for authentic representation.
Criticising BRS MLC K. Kavitha’s recent outreach over BC reservations, he described her efforts as hollow and symbolic. “What did she do for BCs when she held power?” he asked, questioning the sincerity of her current campaign.
The announcement marks the formal political re-entry of Mallanna, who has positioned himself as a key player in a growing wave of BC-centric politics in Telangana.
