T-Safe women safety system termed a major breakthrough: DGP

Hyderabad: Director-General of Police B. Shivdhar Reddy said on Monday that the T-Safe women safety system marked a major breakthrough in women’s travel safety. He explained that most existing tools respond only during emergencies. T-Safe, however, starts monitoring from the beginning of each trip, offering preventive protection throughout the journey. He noted that women can use the service even without a smartphone.

The DGP made these remarks while presenting “T-Safe — Safe Travel for Women” at the recent DGPs’ conference in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. He said Telangana recorded the highest percentage of working women in the National Family Health Survey 2022 and launched T-Safe in 2024 to strengthen their safety.

T-SAFE WOMEN SAFETY SYSTEM GAINS WIDE ACCEPTANCE

Reddy said the platform uses automated ride tracking to detect 42 types of route deviations. It monitors delays, unresponsive verification calls, unusually long travel times and incorrect passcodes. When the system detects a deviation, a nearby patrol vehicle or motorcycle moves to the user’s location without delay.

He added that women rated the service 4.7 out of 5. Police teams have already held more than 350 awareness programmes to improve usage and public understanding. He said the department will continue expanding the platform and strengthening its preventive features.
