Strict action to protect government lands, says Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy

Hyderabad: Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Monday said the State would take strict and coordinated action to protect government lands, which he described as public assets.

While reviewing Jubilee Hills constituency issues, the Minister said officials must act firmly against encroachments. He warned that any lapse in protecting public land would invite serious consequences. Therefore, he asked departments to remain alert and responsive.

The review took place in the presence of Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin and Jubilee Hills MLA Naveen Yadav. Moreover, senior officials from the Revenue department, Defence authorities and the Waqf Board attended the meeting.

Government lands reviewed along with burial ground needs

During the discussion, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy asked officials to resolve long-pending burial ground requirements in Borabanda, Erragadda and Shaikpet. He said departments must work together to ensure lawful and timely solutions.

At the same time, the Minister directed officials to identify encroachments on government lands without delay. Accordingly, he asked them to issue notices and recover land wherever violations surfaced.

He further said a coordinated approach between Revenue, Defence and Waqf Board officials would help avoid future disputes. As a result, he stressed the need for clear documentation and swift decisions.

Finally, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy instructed officials to submit regular progress reports. He said strict enforcement would continue until government lands received complete protection.
