Steel plant explosion in Vikarabad triggers panic, workers injured

Hyderabad: A major explosion at a steel plant in Vikarabad triggered panic on Wednesday after a furnace blast at a private unit in Lakshmidevipalli sent flames and thick smoke into the air. The incident occurred at Sugna Metals Limited in Pargi mandal.

The blast erupted suddenly inside the unit, causing fire to spread rapidly. Consequently, dense smoke covered nearby areas and alarmed residents.

Reports indicated that several workers suffered injuries during the explosion. However, officials have not yet confirmed the exact number of injured.

When questioned, company representatives claimed a lorry tyre burst caused the sound. However, locals alleged that the management attempted to downplay the explosion.

Fire teams rushed to the spot and began efforts to control the flames. As the fire intensified, officials deployed additional fire engines to contain the situation.
