Sridhar Babu discusses governance collaboration at Victoria Parliament

Hyderabad: Telangana Minister for IT, Industries, and Legislative Affairs D. Sridhar Babu on Friday visited the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne as part of his official tour to Australia. He was received by Lee Tarlamis, Government Whip in the Legislative Council, and Sheena Watt, Parliamentary Secretary for Ambulance Services.

During his visit, Sridhar Babu held detailed discussions with Australian lawmakers on legislative systems, parliamentary governance, and public accountability models. He emphasised the role of citizen engagement in law-making as a foundation for transparency and effective governance.

The minister outlined Telangana’s ongoing governance reforms, including technology-driven and citizen-focused legislative practices. He said the state aims to build inclusive, innovation-aligned administrative models through digital transformation.

Sridhar Babu also proposed formal institutional collaboration between Telangana and Victoria. He suggested cooperation in public policy research, digital governance, and administrative innovation.

Impressed by Telangana’s reform-led approach, the Victorian legislators welcomed the idea of bilateral cooperation. Tarlamis and Watt expressed willingness to work with states like Telangana that prioritise transparency, accountability, and public service delivery.
