Hyderabad: Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu met Union Minister for Heavy Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy in New Delhi on Wednesday and submitted a detailed representation seeking resolution of long-standing land disputes related to Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) in the state.
Congratulating Kumaraswamy on his new role, Sridhar Babu highlighted that thousands of acres of land had been allotted to CPSUs in Telangana since the 1960s at concessional rates with the aim of driving industrial growth and local employment. However, many of these CPSUs are now defunct.
He warned that the current policy approach risks allowing these prime land assets to be transferred to private parties without adequate compensation to the State, undermining the original purpose of the allotments.
The minister urged the Centre to formulate a comprehensive revival strategy for non-operational and sick CPSUs in Telangana. He emphasized that revitalising these units could reinvigorate industrial development and employment in the region.
Calling for a collaborative resolution, Sridhar Babu requested the Union Minister’s personal intervention and proposed a follow-up meeting to arrive at a workable outcome.
He reaffirmed the Telangana government’s willingness to work with the Centre in driving national industrial progress, provided State interests are respected and cooperation is rooted in equity and federal principles.
