HYDERABAD: In preparation for the Sri Ramanavami Shobha Yatra scheduled to take place on Sunday, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand held a video conference with senior police officers across the city.
During the meeting, the Commissioner provided a detailed overview of the history of the Shobha Yatra and incidents associated with the procession in previous years. He conducted an in-depth review of the security arrangements and issued clear directives following a route inspection carried out on Saturday along with representatives from the Sri Ramanavami Utsav Committees and officials from other departments.
Commissioner Anand emphasised the need for heightened vigilance, particularly at intersections where the main procession intersects with smaller processions. He directed that special surveillance measures be implemented at these key points.
He also recommended the deployment of additional forces in sensitive areas, particularly near religious places, and called for round-the-clock monitoring. As a precautionary measure, he instructed that all police officers, Zonal Control Room staff, and Special Branch personnel remain on high alert effective immediately.
Furthermore, the Commissioner urged officers to be vigilant against pickpockets and chain snatchers who may take advantage of the large crowds during the procession.
Among those who participated virtually in the review were Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Vikram Singh Mann, DCP Special Branch S. Chaitanya Kumar, DCP IT Cell Pushpa, as well as Zonal DCPs, Inspectors, ACPs, and other key officers.
