Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) has won four National Energy Conservation Awards for 2025, reaffirming its position as a national leader in energy efficiency and sustainable operations.
The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, presented the awards at a national ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency, under the Ministry of Power, organised the event.
SCR recognised for green buildings and solar-powered stations
SCR received the Best Performing Unit Award under the Government Buildings category for its Diesel Traction Training Centre (DTTC) at Guntakal. It also earned Certificates of Merit for Raichur, Kacheguda, and Lingampally railway stations under the Transport/Railway Stations category.
General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava accepted the awards and congratulated the SCR team for its achievements. He praised officials for their consistent efforts to cut energy use through solar power, LED lighting, and high-efficiency HVAC systems.
He specifically acknowledged the contributions of the Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, Divisional Railway Managers, and other key personnel who implemented energy-saving measures across the zone.
Notably, Kacheguda Railway Station reached net-zero energy status, supplying its entire electricity needs through solar power. SCR continues to lead Indian Railways in sustainable practices and national energy benchmarks.
