Hyderabad: Former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Friday expressed grief over the Soundar Rajan demise, describing it as a significant loss to the spiritual community.
Soundar Rajan served as the chief priest of the Chilkur Balaji Temple, a prominent shrine often referred to as the “Tirupati of Telangana.” In his condolence message, KCR said the priest earned wide respect for combining religious service with social outreach.
He described Soundar Rajan as a “public priest” who upheld spiritual values while promoting equality and inclusiveness. According to KCR, his approach to interpreting traditional Hindu principles in public life set a standard for future generations entering priesthood.

KCR stated that Soundar Rajan’s engagement with devotees reflected a broader vision of community service. He noted that the priest’s inclusive outlook strengthened the bond between temple institutions and the public.
