Hyderabad: A Siddipet medical student suicide was reported after a 20-year-old physiotherapy student allegedly hanged herself in a hostel room at a private medical college in Mittapalli village of Siddipet Urban mandal.
According to locals, the student was identified as Srija, a native of Peddapalli district in the undivided Karimnagar region. She was studying first-year physiotherapy at the college.
The incident occurred on Sunday when she was alone in her hostel room. She allegedly hanged herself during that time.
Upon receiving information, police reached the spot and began an inquiry. The exact reasons behind the medical student suicide were not immediately known.
Sources said the student’s parents had passed away earlier. However, officials did not confirm if this had any connection to the incident.
Siddipet medical student suicide sparks protest
Social activist Gadagoni Chakradhar Goud reached the college after learning about the medical student suicide. He staged a protest at the scene and demanded clarity over the circumstances leading to the incident.
Police continued their investigation to ascertain the cause of death. Further details were awaited.
