Shabbir Ali attends Nizamabad Iftar, highlights minority welfare

Hyderabad: Telangana Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir attended the state-organised Iftar programme in Nizamabad on Monday evening. The event took place at Khila Road where the government distributed Ramzan Tohfa clothing kits to members of the Muslim community.

TPCC President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud and Urdu Academy Chairman Taher Bin Handan attended as chief guests. Several public representatives and community members also participated in the programme.

Ramzan symbolises compassion and charity

Speaking at the event, Shabbir Ali said Nizamabad reflects the spirit of Ganga–Jamuna Tehzeeb and communal harmony.

He said the holy month of Ramzan promotes discipline, compassion, and charity. According to him, the government launched the Ramzan Tohfa initiative to help poor minority families celebrate the festival with dignity.

Participants offered special prayers after Iftar for peace and prosperity in the country.

Meanwhile, Mahesh Kumar Goud said the government is implementing several measures to strengthen minority welfare in education and employment.

He highlighted key schemes such as:

  • Scholarships for minority students

  • Overseas education support

  • Shaadi Mubarak scheme for the marriages of girls from economically weaker families

Leaders attend Nizamabad Urban Press Club oath ceremony

Earlier in the day, Shabbir Ali and Mahesh Kumar Goud attended the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected Nizamabad Urban Press Club office-bearers. The event took place at Basava Garden.

Addressing journalists, Shabbir Ali reaffirmed the Congress government’s commitment to the welfare of media professionals.

He said journalism remains the fourth pillar of democracy and plays a crucial role in protecting democratic values.

Shabbir Ali also assured that the long-pending demand for house sites for journalists in Nizamabad will be taken up with the government.

He further said the government plans to strengthen health security for journalists through health cards.

At the same time, he advised journalists to prioritise facts in reporting and give voice to the poor instead of focusing only on TRP ratings.

Mahesh Kumar Goud said journalists help bridge the gap between the government and the public by highlighting grassroots issues and spreading awareness about welfare schemes.

₹3.24 crore distributed under Shaadi Mubarak and Kalyana Lakshmi

Later, the leaders distributed cheques worth ₹3.24 crore to 324 beneficiaries under the Shaadi Mubarak and Kalyana Lakshmi schemes at Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium in Nizamabad.

Officials provided the following details:

  • ₹1,94,22,504 distributed to 194 beneficiaries under Shaadi Mubarak

  • ₹1,30,15,080 distributed to 130 beneficiaries under Kalyana Lakshmi

Shabbir Ali said the financial assistance ensures that the marriages of girls from poor families do not become a financial burden.

Mahesh Kumar Goud also highlighted several welfare programmes introduced by the Congress government, including:

  • Free bus travel for women

  • LPG cylinders at ₹500

  • 200 units of free electricity

  • Indiramma houses

  • Farm loan waiver

  • Rythu Bharosa

  • Employment opportunities for youth

Revenue Department employee’s family receives ₹75 lakh insurance cheque

Later, the leaders attended a diary release programme organised by the Revenue Association at the Nizamabad Collectorate.

During the event, they handed over an insurance cheque of ₹75 lakh to the family of Rajeshwar, a senior assistant in the Revenue Department who died while on duty.

Shabbir Ali said the Revenue Department forms the backbone of government administration and connects the government with people.

He assured that the government will address issues faced by revenue employees after taking them up with the Chief Minister.
