Hyderabad: Telangana Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka issued a legal notice to BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao, as a political row intensified over alleged corruption in mobile phone procurement.
The legal notice followed allegations by BRS social media handles that irregularities occurred in the purchase of mobile phones for anganwadi teachers. They claimed the government procured low-cost phones at inflated prices. Consequently, the issue escalated into a sharp political confrontation.

However, Seethakka strongly rejected the allegations and termed them baseless. She said the campaign targeted her reputation without any evidence. Therefore, she held KCR responsible as party chief and moved ahead with legal action.
The notice sought an apology over the alleged false campaign. Otherwise, it warned of legal consequences if the claims continued. Sources indicated that the minister viewed the posts as defamatory.
Meanwhile, Congress leaders defended the government’s procurement process. They said all purchases followed transparent procedures. At the same time, they accused BRS leaders of making false claims after electoral defeat.
The controversy centred on mobile phones supplied to anganwadi teachers. While BRS leaders alleged financial irregularities, the government denied the charges. Instead, it described the claims as politically motivated.
Now, the response of KCR and BRS leadership to the Seethakka legal notice remains awaited.
