HYDERABAD: Railway police in Secunderabad seized 52 kilograms of dry ganja valued at ₹26 lakh from Platform No. 7 of the Secunderabad railway station on 9 April. The discovery was made during a joint inspection conducted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP).
Speaking at the Secunderabad Railway Police Station, Railway DSP S.N. Javed and in-charge Inspector R. Ellappa informed the media that four large, unclaimed bags were found during routine checks. Upon opening the bags, officials found them filled with ganja.
Despite questioning nearby stall vendors and passengers, police were unable to trace the owners of the luggage. Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects were using the railway network to smuggle ganja to other states.
A case has been registered, and a detailed investigation is currently underway. The DSP assured that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the smuggling attempt.
