Hyderabad: The State Election Commission (SEC) imposed prohibitory orders in poll-bound districts ahead of the third phase of Gram Panchayat elections, banning the assembly of three or more persons in public places.
The restrictions will remain in force until 10 am on December 18, when polling concludes. The SEC issued the orders to maintain public order, peace and tranquillity during the election process.
The commission directed district Collectors and the Police Department to strictly enforce the restrictions in areas where polling is scheduled.
Under the orders, the SEC banned the carrying of arms, including licensed weapons, unless permitted by the competent authority. It also prohibited processions, rallies, public meetings and demonstrations until polling and vote counting end.
