Sangareddy Police register case against Jagga Reddy for obstructing poll duty

Hyderabad: Sangareddy Police registered a case against Jagga Reddy for allegedly obstructing poll duty officers during municipal elections in Sangareddy following directions from the State Election Commission.

Police booked the former MLA and TPCC working president under Sections 223, 351, 352, 132 and 329 of the IPC. The alleged incident occurred during polling on Wednesday. Officers stated that he interfered with election duties at a polling booth.

However, Jagga Reddy denied the allegations in a press note. He said he intervened after a Circle Inspector allegedly manhandled and insulted a Congress leader at the booth. He claimed he confronted the officer to defend his party colleague.

Case against Jagga Reddy follows SEC directions

According to police, the case against Jagga Reddy was filed at the Sangareddy police station based on instructions from the State Election Commission. Officials said the complaint related to obstruction during active polling hours.

Meanwhile, Jagga Reddy accused the Circle Inspector of favouring a rival candidate. He alleged the officer’s conduct disturbed law and order at the polling station. Instead of approaching senior officials, he said he chose to intervene immediately.

Further, he demanded action against the police officer concerned. He also alleged a deliberate attempt to disrupt the polling process.

In addition, he accused BRS leaders K. T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao of spreading “false narratives” on social media. He said they portrayed him as attacking officials. In response, he cited past instances of alleged misconduct by BRS leaders towards police personnel.
