Sangareddy NH 65 road accident leaves over 15 injured

Hyderabad: A Sangareddy NH 65 road accident left more than 15 people seriously injured after a state-run bus and a lorry collided near Sadasivpet on Saturday.

The crash occurred on the bypass stretch of National Highway 65 at a sharp curve on the outskirts of Sadasivpet in Sangareddy district. An RTC bus travelling from Zaheerabad towards the Sadasivpet bus stand collided head-on with a lorry moving in the opposite direction.

The impact severely damaged both vehicles. The front portions of the bus and the lorry were crushed, according to preliminary reports. At the time of the accident, nearly 50 passengers were on board the bus.

Immediately after the collision, passengers panicked and attempted to exit the damaged bus. Meanwhile, local residents alerted police and emergency services. Officers reached the spot and shifted the injured to the Sadasivpet Government Hospital in ambulances.

Officials said over 15 passengers sustained serious injuries. Doctors were assessing their condition, and further medical updates were awaited.

Preliminary findings suggested that overspeeding by the lorry driver may have caused the Sangareddy NH 65 road accident. However, police began a formal investigation to establish the exact sequence of events.

The accident triggered heavy traffic congestion on the highway. Vehicles remained stranded for several kilometres. Traffic police later cleared the damaged vehicles from the carriageway and restored movement in phases.

Police were recording statements and collecting evidence at the scene. Further details were expected after completion of the initial inquiry.
