Top lawyer Salim steps in to defend iBOMMA Ravi in piracy case

Hyderabad: High-profile defence lawyer Salim has taken up the case of iBOMMA founder Ravi, who was recently arrested in a piracy case. Salim, known for representing accused in the sensational knife and stone attack cases involving former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, announced his decision to defend Ravi, citing legal ethics and the right to representation.

Salim had earlier secured bail for the accused in the Jagan-related cases. Now, he is preparing to argue on behalf of Ravi, stating that just as the law enabled Ravi’s arrest, it also permits legal defence. “I will fight for Ravi’s rights as part of my professional duty,” he declared.

As part of case preparations, Salim visited Ravi’s father, Appa Rao, at their home in Pedagattulapalem in Visakhapatnam district. He requested Appa Rao’s signature on certain legal documents required for formal representation in court.

However, Appa Rao firmly refused. Citing poor health and lack of patience to deal with prolonged legal proceedings, he told Salim to leave him out of the matter. “I do not have the strength to go around courts in the future. Please leave me alone,” Appa Rao reportedly said.
