Government working to strengthen rural healthcare: Raja Narasimha

Hyderabad: Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha said the State government is strengthening rural healthcare. He mentioned that rural healthcare services are being linked across hospitals in rural areas.

He said the government is connecting sub-centres, primary health centres, community health centres, and area hospitals. Government hospitals in rural areas are also part of this network.

Replying during the Legislative Council session on Saturday, Raja Narasimha addressed questions from members. The queries related to RMP and PMP practitioners and their role in ensuring the services are effective.

Legal issues over RMP and PMP training

The Minister said legal cases are pending in court. He said the Indian Medical Association, Telangana unit and doctors opposed the training of RMPs and PMPs. Following their objections, they approached the High Court.

Despite the legal hurdles, Raja Narasimha said the government remains committed to finding solutions. The government is focused on overcoming challenges related to rural healthcare to ensure health security for the underprivileged.

“We are focused on strengthening healthcare services in rural areas,” the Minister said. He added that serving as the Medical Education and Health Minister was an honour and emphasised the importance of healthcare.

Raja Narasimha also said the government would consider suggestions made by Legislative Council members. He said these inputs would guide future decisions on the issue of rural healthcare.
