HYDERABAD: A Telangana RTC bus conductor, Ameen Ahmad Ansari, who has been facing severe difficulties in performing his duties due to his extraordinary height, recently went viral on social media, drawing widespread attention to his plight.
Ansari, who stands at seven feet tall, is currently working at the Mehdipatnam depot. Given that the average height inside RTC buses is only 6.4 feet, he has been struggling to carry out his responsibilities. The discomfort of working in cramped conditions has made his daily duties increasingly challenging.
As per reports, Ansari typically works five trips a day, spending nearly ten hours on board. He has been suffering from chronic neck and back pain, as well as sleep deprivation, as a result of constantly needing to stoop inside the buses. Speaking about his ordeal, Ansari said that the situation has forced him to frequently visit hospitals for treatment.
In response to the viral post highlighting his hardship, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Minister Ponnam Prabhakar took note of the matter. Minister Prabhakar responded on social media platform X, tagging TSRTC MD and VC Sajjanar with a directive—issued under the CM’s instructions—to provide Ansari with a more suitable role within the RTC.
Netizens expressed appreciation for the Minister’s swift response, with many thanking both the Chief Minister and Minister Prabhakar for their immediate intervention.
Passengers who had noticed Ansari’s struggle had earlier urged senior officials to consider assigning him to a different position that would better accommodate his physical condition. Following public appeals and media coverage, authorities have now taken steps to address his situation.
