HYDERABAD: A robbery took place in Hyderabad’s Film Nagar, where burglars broke into an NRI’s house and looted gold, cash, and foreign currency while the family was away for an Iftar gathering.
According to details, Mohammad Mujahid Kamal, a resident of Diamond Hills Colony near Shaikpet, lives in Australia with his family. He had returned to Hyderabad in January. On the occasion of Ramadan, Mujahid and his family locked their house and went to a relative’s place for Iftar.
When they returned home around 2 AM on Tuesday, they found the back door broken. Upon entering, they saw their belongings scattered across the house. The burglars had broken into two bedroom cupboards and stolen 34 tolas of gold jewelry, approximately Rs 4.5 lakh in cash, and 550 Canadian dollars.
Before committing the robbery, the thieves destroyed the house’s CCTV cameras and DVR to avoid being recorded. Upon receiving the complaint, Film Nagar police arrived at the scene with a clues team and launched an investigation. They are currently reviewing nearby CCTV footage and conducting searches to track down the culprits.
