Hyderabad: The number of dengue fever cases is steadily rising in Hyderabad, raising concerns among residents and health officials. Over the past three days, 27 dengue cases have been reported in the district.
Areas near lakes, drains, and densely populated colonies have seen a spike in mosquito activity, with stagnant water and overgrown vegetation contributing to breeding conditions. Residents have reported increasing mosquito presence both in homes and hospital areas.
Experts stressed the need for prioritising anti-mosquito operations in urban slums and low-lying colonies. They criticised the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for failing to address mosquito control effectively in previous years.
Citizens have urged the health department and entomology units to launch a joint action plan to contain the outbreak and prevent further spread. Dense grass in lake areas has been identified as a major cause for mosquito breeding and is yet to be cleared.
