Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the Congress leadership have begun strategising for the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election and the upcoming local body elections, aiming to secure a decisive edge in both contests.
TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud and Minister Ponnam Prabhakar met Revanth Reddy at his residence on Wednesday to review the party’s preparedness. The discussion focused on candidate selection, the legal status of BC reservations, and upcoming public mobilisation.
The CM had already instructed Ministers and District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents during a virtual meeting to submit ZPTC candidate lists to the TPCC by October 5. Goud and Prabhakar briefed him on ongoing court proceedings and the political implications of the High Court’s upcoming verdict on October 8.
BC outreach and political timing
The Congress is preparing for its first local body elections since coming to power in Telangana. The leadership is also monitoring the fallout of the ongoing legal scrutiny of the 42% BC reservation quota.
To reinforce its BC support base, the party plans to host the “BC Garjana” rally shortly after Dussehra. TPCC leaders are expected to meet with key BC representatives ahead of the rally, projecting Congress’s commitment to social justice.
Congress insiders view this as a critical moment to consolidate its position among BC voters, especially with the court verdict approaching. The outcome is likely to shape candidate strategy in both the Jubilee Hills by-election and ZPTC polls.
