Hyderabad: Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Revanth Reddy on Friday urged party functionaries to take organisational roles seriously and prepare for long-term political shifts, including constituency reorganisation and 2029 elections. He was speaking at the extended TPCC executive meeting held at Gandhi Bhavan.
Revanth said Telangana had emerged as a model state in the country and claimed the state had successfully pressured the Centre to include caste census in national enumeration.
He listed recent successes in education, employment, and membership drives, stating, “During my term as TPCC president, over 45 lakh active memberships were registered. Many Youth Congress, NSUI, and district presidents have since been given roles in government.”
The Chief Minister cautioned party office-bearers against treating party posts casually. “It is from these positions that you will gain recognition and respect. These roles are the foundation for your rise in politics,” he said.
Looking ahead, Revanth said the number of Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies is likely to increase. He flagged the upcoming delimitation, women’s reservation, and simultaneous elections (Jamili) as developments that would reshape the political landscape.
“The 2029 elections must be a platform for new leadership. Start working now if you want to grow as a leader,” he told attendees, urging them to tour villages and work in coordination at the grassroots.
He called for focused outreach on government welfare schemes and unity in efforts to bring Congress back to power for a second term. “We must start preparing from today. The next ten years in Telangana will belong to Congress,” he said.
Revanth also praised AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge’s long legislative record and urged workers to draw inspiration from his journey.
