CM Revanth Reddy meets Rajnath Singh, invites him for Gandhi Sarovar project launch

Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and invited him to attend the foundation ceremony of the Gandhi Sarovar project scheduled for the last week of February.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister explained that the project would come up at the confluence of the Esi and Musi rivers. He informed the Defence Minister that Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed at the Esi-Musi confluence in February 1948.

The Chief Minister said the Gandhi Sarovar project formed part of the larger Musi rejuvenation initiative. He stated that the government planned to develop Bapu Ghat into a world-class educational, cultural, spiritual and environmental landmark.

Revanth Reddy also handed over the Telangana Vision Document-2047 to Rajnath Singh during the meeting. Congress MPs Mallu Ravi, Anil Kumar Goud, Vamshi Krishna and Kadiyam Kavya were present.

Gandhi Sarovar project seeks transfer of defence land

The Chief Minister also raised the issue of defence land required for the Gandhi Sarovar project at the river confluence. According to sources, he requested the Union government to allocate the land for the prestigious initiative.

The state government sought transfer of 98.20 acres belonging to the Defence Ministry for execution of the project. Officials said the government aimed to develop the site as a symbol of national integration and Gandhian values.

The Chief Minister urged the Centre to extend cooperation for early completion of the project. Officials described the meeting as constructive and focused on coordination between the state and the Union government.
