Revanth Reddy slams BJP over Kaleshwaram CBI probe delay

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy criticised the BJP over the Kaleshwaram CBI probe delay, stating that the Centre had not acted despite repeated requests from the state government over the past year.

Speaking in the Assembly on Sunday, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had publicly alleged that the KCR family siphoned funds from the Kaleshwaram project. He questioned why no formal investigation had followed those statements.

Revanth Reddy referred to remarks by Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, who had earlier stated that the Centre was ready to order a CBI probe if the state government agreed. He said the state had written to the Centre, expecting swift action, but had not received any official response.

The Chief Minister alleged that the BJP and BRS were complicit in the controversy. He claimed there was a quid pro quo arrangement in which the BRS transferred its vote bank to the BJP during the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana.

Kaleshwaram CBI probe delay sparks fresh allegations

He said BJP leaders should offer political advice only after ensuring the arrest of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and former minister T. Harish Rao in connection with the case.

Revanth Reddy also accused Harish Rao’s brother, Mahesh Rao, of threatening private industry owners and allegedly acquiring hundreds of acres of land using the Dharani portal in Balanagar of Mahabubnagar district.

He said the government was prepared to form a House Committee to investigate the alleged land encroachments. However, he added that this would proceed only if BRS leaders, including K. T. Rama Rao and Venkatrama Reddy, agreed to the proposal.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government remained committed to pursuing a probe into the Kaleshwaram project and demanded a clear response from the Centre on the issue.
