Rangareddy Collector urges departments to procure sand from TGMDC

Hyderabad: Rangareddy Collector C. Narayana Reddy has issued a clear directive to all engineering departments, urging them to source the sand required for government works from the Telangana State Minerals Development Corporation (TGMDC).

At a review meeting held on Wednesday at the Collector’s camp office, Reddy convened officials from the Roads and Buildings, Irrigation, Mission Bhagiratha, Electricity, and Ground Water departments. Stressing the importance of planning for the upcoming monsoon season, he asked each department to estimate their sand requirements by March 31, 2026, and submit the details to TGMDC to ensure uninterrupted supply.

The Collector pointed out that in the Hyderabad–Rangareddy district area, three sand stockyards had been established around the Outer Ring Road to meet the region’s construction needs. These stockyards are located at Abdullapurmet, Adibatla, and Vattinagulapalli. He noted that the Abdullapurmet yard currently holds 40 metric tonnes of sand, while Adibatla has a substantial 90,000 metric tonnes, and Vattinagulapalli offers 40,000 metric tonnes of both coarse and fine varieties.

He further explained that sand from these stockyards would be made available through TGMDC, either via departmental vehicles or private buyers’ own vehicles. Prices had been fixed at ₹1,600 per tonne for coarse sand and ₹1,800 per tonne for fine sand, excluding transport charges. Departments could also book sand online through the SSMS portal, which also allows individuals to order sand statewide and arrange doorstep delivery.
