Ramchander Rao slams police over BJYM leaders arrest

Hyderabad: The arrest of BJYM leaders triggered strong criticism from Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao, who accused the police of acting in a partisan manner.

In a statement issued on Friday, Rao condemned the arrest of Ganesh Kunde and other Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha leaders. He said they were detained while planning a protest.

The proposed protest aimed to condemn the Congress party’s conduct during the “AI Global Summit” in New Delhi. However, Rao alleged that the police acted more like Congress workers than law enforcement personnel.

He demanded immediate suspension of the officials involved. He also sought a formal inquiry into allegations of verbal and physical abuse against the BJYM leaders.

BJP alleges excesses in BJYM leaders arrest

Rao claimed that the police acted at the instigation of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. He termed the BJYM leaders arrest “heinous” and accused officers of using third-degree methods inside a police van.

He warned that the BJP, as a national party in power at the Centre, would not tolerate such actions. Furthermore, he called for criminal proceedings against the officials responsible for the alleged misconduct.

The police have not issued a public response to the allegations so far.
