Rajiv Ranjan Singh opens India’s first integrated RAS trout farm in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh on Monday inaugurated India’s first integrated Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS) trout farm, developed by SmartGreen Aquaculture in Ranga Reddy district near Hyderabad.

Describing the project as a milestone, Singh said the successful cultivation of cold-water trout in a non-traditional region proves that advanced aquaculture technology can overcome climatic limitations. He stated that temperature-controlled RAS trout farm units enable fish farming in locations previously considered unsuitable.

“This breakthrough demonstrates how modern aquaculture can transcend geographical and environmental challenges,” he said. He added that the central government remains committed to supporting such innovations through targeted schemes and financial assistance.

The Minister also highlighted the role of RAS technology in enhancing both fisheries and agriculture. He stressed that entrepreneurs adopting such systems are driving sustainable rural development.

Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy, S. P. Singh Baghel, and George Kurian, along with Telangana Minister Vakiti Srihari, were present at the event.
