Hyderabad: Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha on Monday reaffirmed the state’s goal to become a global education hub under its “Telangana Rising – 2047” vision. He made these remarks during a dedicated panel session at the Telangana Rising Global Summit.
He asserted that medical and higher education would form the foundation for reaching Telangana’s target of a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
Nursing colleges and global training to empower girls
The minister highlighted the government’s recent launch of 16 new nursing colleges. These institutions aim to empower girls from low- and middle-income families by expanding access to professional education. Additionally, the government is offering training in German, Japanese, and English. This move, he said, will equip nursing students with skills needed for international careers.
According to Rajanarasimha, investing in girls’ education yields high returns for society. He emphasised its role in promoting equality and upward mobility.
Telangana currently ranks among India’s leading states in college density and gross enrollment ratio. The state is home to 47 universities and 1,951 higher education institutions.

Focus on innovation, skills, and equal opportunity
The minister outlined two key reforms aimed at reshaping the education landscape. First, the Young India Integrated Residential Schools (YIIRS) seek to eliminate social disparities through integrated, high-quality education. Second, the Young India Skill University aims to produce industry-ready talent in line with Telangana’s growth agenda.
He also spotlighted the dual apprenticeship initiative with Austrian firm ALPLA. This program allows polytechnic students to combine academic learning with hands-on industry experience, ensuring real-world readiness.
Looking ahead, Rajanarasimha stated that the state’s vision is to ensure every citizen gains at least one job-ready skill by 2047. He called on global educators and investors to partner with Telangana in building a workforce that meets future demands.
