Hyderabad: BJP MLA Raja Singh on Sunday declared that he is in the running for the party’s state president position in Telangana. Speaking to reporters, he said he had asked for the role but accepted that the final decision rests with the BJP leadership.
He recalled working with Hindu Vahini since 1995, serving as its physical chief until 2009. In 2009, he sought a municipal corporation ticket from the BJP but contested on a TDP ticket after being denied, and won.
Raja Singh joined the BJP in 2014 from Goshamahal constituency and was elected MLA for the first time.
He also mentioned being jailed during religious campaigns in 1998, 2010, and 2012, and spending 77 days in jail even after becoming an MLA.
“My commitment is to Hindu Rashtra, Dharma Raksha, and cow protection,” he stated. Raja Singh admitted there was little chance of getting the state chief post, but said there was no harm in trying.
