Hyderabad: Rajya Sabha MP and BC JAC Chairman R. Krishnaiah has sharply criticised Telangana police for arresting nine BC leaders in the middle of the night after the BC bandh.
Speaking to a news channel on Sunday, Krishnaiah questioned whether the leaders were criminals or Naxals to justify such arrests. He slammed the police for acting without issuing any prior notice and called the move unacceptable.
He accused the state government of using minor incidents from the bandh to crush the BC movement. According to him, police arrested the leaders as part of a deliberate political plan, even though the bandh was largely peaceful.
R. Krishnaiah slams BC arrests as political suppression
Krishnaiah claimed that the arrests happened under the Chief Minister’s direction. He said his team would investigate the matter closely. He also warned that slapping cases for minor reasons would spark political backlash from the BC community.
He urged the state to stop targeting BC leaders. Any attempt to suppress their agitation, he said, would only harden their stance.
