Hyderabad: Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Wednesday re‑inaugurated the restored Purani Haveli building, formerly the Police Commissioner’s office, also known as the Kotwal House, and unveiled new buildings for Kalapathar, Chatrinaka Traffic Police Station and Shalibanda Police Station.
The Minister toured the historic structure, congratulated stakeholders on reviving its heritage, and thanked Ace Urban Developers’ MD Chalamalasetty Anil Kumar for sponsoring the restoration. The heritage building’s roof had collapsed four years ago, and work began in December 2022 under architect Mir Barkatullah Khan, said Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand, IPS.
Commissioner Anand stated that future public interactions will be held from Purani Haveli (Kotwal House) on Fridays, from the Basheerbagh office another day, and at Banjara Hills the rest of the week.
Also present were MPs Asaduddin Owaisi and Mandadi Anil Kumar Yadav; MLAs Mir Zulfiqar Ali and Mohd Mubeen; MLCs Mirza Riyaz Ul Hassan and Rahmath Baig; senior police officers including Addl CP P. Vishwa Prasad, Joint CP Traffic D. Joel Davis, DCP South Sneha Mehra, and others.
