Hyderabad: Minister for Labour and Mines G. Vivek Venkatswamy on Friday said the Congress government in Telangana was prioritising public welfare and development through wide-ranging programmes across the state.
He stated that under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the government was implementing several welfare schemes effectively. He added that party leaders were visiting districts to understand public issues and strengthen outreach.
Vivek said Mahesh Kumar Goud was touring the state to expand party activities. He urged workers to take government programmes to the grassroots and explain their benefits to people.
Public welfare development focus highlighted by Vivek
Vivek alleged that the previous government diverted District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) funds meant for Mancherial to other regions. However, he said the present administration ensured full allocation of these funds to the district.
He also criticised the earlier regime, stating that it constructed large buildings mainly for commissions rather than public benefit. Moreover, he said the current government was correcting such practices.
The Minister highlighted welfare schemes such as Indiramma housing and 200 units of free electricity. He said these initiatives directly benefited poor families. He added that Indiramma houses were sanctioned in both Chennur and Siddipet.
Vivek said the recent state budget allocated adequate funds for welfare programmes. He also announced that the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme would be launched soon.
Public welfare development focus amid financial strain
Vivek said the government continued welfare-focused governance despite financial strain caused by heavy borrowings during the previous regime. He maintained that the administration remained committed to development.
Responding to the Kaleshwaram Project, he said the project failed to deliver expected results despite heavy expenditure. He termed it a failed initiative.
The programme took place at MNR Gardens in Kyathanpalli Municipality. It was attended by Mahesh Kumar Goud, Jupally Krishna Rao, Mancherial MLA Prem Sagar Rao, and other senior leaders.
